Battle of Gallabat at Cannon yesterday
« on: March 31, 2014, 05:54:13 PM »
As a bit of a warm up for our Battle of Keren game at Salute in a couple of weeks James and I put on a Battle of Gallabat game at the Cannon show in Retford yesterday.

This battle was one of the initial actions in the 1940/1 East Africa campaign and saw Slims 10th Indian Infantry Brigade attempting to evict Italians and Askaris from their fort.

We played it out using I Ain't Been Shot Mum and managed to get a very historical result over the course of the day.

We also won the Best in Show trophy so that was rather nice!

More commentary over on the blog along with a veritable feast of photographs.

That's a stunning table

That's just a flat version. The real thing at Salute will be a whole lot more mountainous...

Dear Boy,
wonderful and creative, a deserved winner .
What rules did you use and how large is the table.
Bravo,

Keep it up

We used I Ain't Been Shot Mum (IABSM) by Two Fat Lardies, with a couple of minor modifications, and it'll be the same at Salute.  Table was about 9x6'.

Cheers

Wonderful looking game and one to be proud of again James  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*.

I suspect that I would be right in thinking that you came up with the scenario?

I'm not going to be at Salute, too many family medical issues at the mo', but please do take a bundle of photo's as they're very, very inspiring- i'm planning on doing some kind of Seige of Tobruk scenarios and maybe making it into a demo game but that's well in the Future, I've got Charles VIII invasion of Italy and some African stuff to keep me out of trouble at present.

Darrell.

Yup, scenario was mine, but all I really had to do was read the books and adjust a few figures!  We'll get plenty of pics at Salute.
