The only thing on the market for that period are Naval Infantry. You have a choice of Pulp Miniatures or Company B's Harbour Design range.

Nobody makes suitable Japanese Army figures but you could proxy with Copplestone's Chinese infantry from their BoB range.

Check out "Black army productions"
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Thanks. I didn't know Black Army Productions tho it seems I have worked for them... Their japanese infantry might do the thing tho I'm wondering if I couldn't use WWI or II frenchs and add a star on the helmets? I would need to find some 32 mm minis as the minis I intend to use for the chinese are rather tall f. Any idea?
Looks like most of ranges are 28 mm according to this topic:

But the Japanese of the era aren't a little shorter than europeans or chinese?

By the way Black Army Japanese are very nice figures (better than their photos on website), though they have not yet enough poses. Pulp Figures are also very nice to use.

I was in the local FLGS a couple of weeks ago, who also happen to do contact casting and a couple of the guys were talking about some new Japanese greens for the Second Sino-Japanese War that had just been sent off to the mould makers.  If you like I could try to find out some more info.

Steve63: Yes please.
argsilverson: No idea. Or I could change my chinese for some 28 minis I suppose since it looks like most ranges are 28 mm. Or just mix the "scales" after all since it's not really for a serious historical game.

Just noticed:

If you are a purist you can't uset the Copplestone Chinese as Japanese for 1931 as the have abandoned the peaked cap and have the side cap and "cherry blossom" helmet .

for the other question: Mix the scales is much more Cheap and you already have the figures!

Just found the following photo:

http://photosofwar.net/postcard-of-manchukuo-imperial-army-troops-1932-1945/

so you may use Copplestones chinese with peaked cap as Manchukuo Imperial Army a puppet state of the japanese!

Those ones?

No idea what's the weapon in the first pic tho. Looks like some sort of machinegun?

Not really a purist on this project. :D Tho I have read things for a couple of hours to find a tank that would be usable circa 1932 or a few years later.

Thanks for the pic!

Please let us know if you are actually able to order from Black Army.  I tried during a sale of theirs last year and was unable to complete the transaction. Kind of weird since they had advertised the sale on TMP  :? :?

Okay.
If I can't order from Black Army, looks like it's going to be Copplestone as I can't find frenchs without the long coats...

edit: Read a few articles here and there. If I got it right, the main difference between the type 90 (1930) and the type 98 (1938) uniforms was the collar right?  Since I was planning on buying the Type 94 Tankette from Warlord Games, I might as well buy their japanese troops, modify the collars (plastic yes!) and not use the machine guns, no?

Bergmann MP18, interwar version with straight magazine, manunfactured under licence in Tsingtao probably

or the Haenel-Schmeisser MP28/II, that looks basically the same, unless someone sculpts the fire rate selector  :D

I called in the FLGS and the figures are going to be sold by Reiver Castings http://reivercasting.wordpress.com/
All new sculpts "superb crisps castings" they have a few to be painted for the website but I don't think that they are for sale yet, "within next couple of weeks".  Reiver Castings are at Salute this weekend so if you are going you might want to have a word with Mark.
Cheers
