RN Landing Party
« on: April 11, 2014, 08:26:21 AM »
As promised, attached if my second company, a Landing Party from HMS Thrush - part of the East Africa squadron in the 1890's.

It's based on the British Army rifle company with a couple of characters and inspired by ..... , well you can probably work it out  lol

Their armour is a bit light, but I think this reflects their ad hoc nature and the fact that they are normally ship not land based. I will probably add the option for a machine gun team at a later date.

This company has already seen action last Friday in our first game when they trounced a company of cads and bounders led by the infamous Dick Dastardly.

As always comments appreciated.

Excellent list  :D

You are going to just love Sleeping Dragon, Rising Sun.  There is a Royal Navy Landing Party in that as well, and guess who the Chief Petty Officer is... yes, Pertwee  lol. Great minds think alike obviously.

Getting OT here, but I heard most of them as a teenager or younger on my bedroom radio. Clitheroe Kid, Round The Horn, Hancock - all great radio. I was just too young for the Goons, but I listen to them avidly nowadays. Including last night as it happens.

British Forces radio recycled all these shows, including the Goons and The Navy Lark throughout the 60's and 70's.  I was blessed  lol

I strongly agree, I just love the crimes and thrillers. Stirring stuff!
