Foundry Victorian Egyptian Adventure Models?
« on: April 11, 2014, 04:30:24 PM »
Just read the Wargames Foundry newsletter, and after a long piece about moving premises, there is this:-

"We’ve dug out all sorts of barely released and never released items to take this year's Salute. This includes a Victorian Egyptian Adventure range"

Anyone have any further details?
Anyone going to Salute fancy taking some photos of these and posting here after?
If anyone picks any up at Salute, I'd certainly be keen to see photos.... :)

Foundry don't normally have a display, just racks of blisters.

If I get chance I will see what the packs contain and report back, not promissing anything though time seems to fly when you are there.

I wonder if this might be one of these packs ?

It was a lone pack on the Victorian Range when I was in the Foundry late last year.

@ Yankeepedlar01 - those look interesting,  :)

If anyone does pick up any, photos would really be appreciated, especially if, as implied, these are an older unreleased range
(not overkeen on the newest Victorian releases personally, although some sculpts are ok)

This link should help answer your questions gentlemen. The "Mummy" range not released on the website or e-bay from Foundry that a lucky sole who got to Salute this year bought.

http://glueinthecarpet.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/salute-loot.html

I'd love to see all the others they have still. They did promise to bring them out fully sometime ago on e-bay but I've not seen any of them yet.

I was quite excited abut seeing these. But when I did I was vey disappointed. :(
I believe they are by Tim Prow(?) who did all the recent Foundry Victorian releases.

From memory the packs include:
*American treasure hunters. Five or six figures in cowboy hats firing pistols in unconvincing poses. Very poor sculpts.
*British Treasure hunters. Same as above, only one reasonable figure wearing a pith helmet holding a rifle.
*French Foreign legion types. Again poor sculpts.
*ladies in pith helmets, not too bad.
*Grave robbers. europeans with no shirts on holding spades.
*Arab diggers. Reasonable set of sculpts.
*Arabs carrying luggage. Not bad sculpts. They only pack I purchased.
*Arabs with swords. Again some unusual poses.
*Arabs with machine gun!!!
*Mummy embalming set. I didn't look at this one.
There were several other packs which I can't remember much about.

As I said above, these are a bit on the crude side, much like the rest of the Recent Foundry Victorian stuff. I Am not a fan, but others may think them ok. There are several Decent figures, but overall I was not impressed.

I never saw the pack listed above of the Throne room fight. They didn't look too bad. lol

Malamute's summed it up pretty well, the first two he's listed were called American Adventurers and British Adventurers.  The 'ladies in pith helmets' were the Treasure Hunters pack, females with spades digging in reasonable poses, quite nice sculpts.

I bought the Arab diggers and Arab porters which I think were best of the bunch.

The power of personal preference  ;)

There are some exceptions but I don't like the majority of stuff he did for Foundry and he's forever blacklisted for the abomination he labelled Frontier Light Horse.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Did something I have not done in a long time and ordered from Foundry (Men of substance - DA11, go Jungle Lord.)

Looked at Tim Prow's work - Victorians/Edwardians.  Okay, might get the females (Ladies) and "staff" for civilians some time but not soon as adventure/Hunting/Safari party filler.

Gracias,

Glenn

Edit:  Salute online discount was a nice surprise but would have ordered anyway.
