Modern Era Buildings Wish List
« on: April 17, 2014, 05:21:47 PM »
I'm sure everyone has seen the laser cut buildings some companies are selling.

What modern era buildings would you buy if they were available?

Thank you,
Ed

How about single and two story detached homes with or without garages for cops and robbers or post apoc settlements?

Or different types of commercial stores, gas stations etc?
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Suburban stuff could be useful. I'd like some city centre type buildings. They're potentially easy enough to do yourself though if you look at stuff like James Bibbly's Akira stuff that's way better than I could do!

I took a look at some of James Akira's albums on photobucket.  Thank you for bringing up his name.  He does some great modeling.  Is he a professional model maker?

Thank you,
Ed

Check out Oshiro Model Terrain for James' store. He is an architectural modelmaker. I occasionally encounter such creatures through work and from seeing his work I'd say he is one of the most talented I've seen.

Yes, I am a professional architectural model maker ad can brings those skills to the hobby (there are others like me, Fenris for one  :) ).

The Akira buildings are nearing completion for sales and will be available in the next week or two. I can obviously also do commission works but I'm full up at the moment.

I'd like to see some art dec style city buildings. Offices, public buildings etc. much of the modern stuff, blocky 1960s to now stuff is either easy enough to do oneself or already available, I just can't be bothered doing the curves and decoration. Whether laser cut is the best medium for that I don't know.

I'd also like to see some modernist dwellings, you know Frank Lloyd Wright/ Le Corbusier/ Otto Niemeyer meets the Jetsons style houses. Useful for all sorts of things like drug barons/ evil genius' lairs.

Presently it would be handing if someone would do something with either a caribbean theme or something for Aden circa the '60s.

One thing I do wish is that offerings are made with sufficient versatility to be used for settings other than the UK, northern Europe or the old Estados Unidos. I'm sure I can't be quite alone in that.

I am all about the city style buildings, Mini-apartment blocks, ware houses, 7/11s(stop and robs), garages, Gas stations.
I have some of the gangster style 1920s buildings from "old glory". But would like to see some more modern styles.

And I would also like to see more south/central American styles of buildings. We already have a few companies out there that cover modern Africa and the Middle east.

"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

U.S. City buildings between around 1930 - 1960, so yes some Art Deco and Modernist styling for me too. Truck Stop- Gas Station- Rest Stop-Motel-Diner and other 'Small Town' items for the same era on top.

Spanish or Portuguese 'Old Colonial' style buildings for either Latin America or Southern Africa.

Somewhat more modern-styled 'Southern Africa' urban buildings.

That pretty much suits all my wants.  :)

Gamecraft Miniatures does some of these.
