That's part of the simplification! It didn't look good to me, so I decided our man has got himself plainer replacements. The harsher the terrain and more senior the officer, the laxer the uniform regs!

Yeah, that tartan needed a couple more lines in there really to be accurate, but I figured it would just make it look messy so I left them out.

That's one of the big problems with tiny 28mm tartan. After a while it all blends in together and doesn't look anything like what it should.

Agreed the puttees would have probably been a bit too much.  ;)

Did you actually use a purple wash on the tartan? It's a very soft line.

It's a dark brown glaze, with green ink squares in the intersections. The thin lines (black, white and a slightly hidden blue one) are just very thin paint put on very slowly with a very thin brush.
