EotD - Coaches and contraption rules
« on: April 30, 2014, 12:04:50 PM »
Posted this on the Westwind forum, but thought it might be relevant here as well.

Yesterday I had a game with my friend Chris and I decided that I would spend shillings to hire the Black Mariah and a driver - quite an investment. It was the first time that I would try out the Coaches and Contraptions rules and unfortunately I found them lacking in some areas. Now I know that these are not the final rules, so I hope that you guys will be able to clarify a few things for me.

If the coach's speed at the end of the turn is "With haste", when the next turn comes around, do you still have to make a difficult terrain test?
Can a coach move twice like a normal model?
Can it really be true that your models can be "Removed from Play" when attempting to alight the coach and they fail their difficult terrain test? (I lost my Detective Sergeant this way yesterday)
Does embarking/alighting count as an action?
The rules does not cover if your opponent wants to shoot at the driver, so what if any modifiers should be applied.
When attempting the "Ride him down" manoeuvre, if you fail the difficult/dangerous test do you still run succeed with the manoeuvre?
Specifically for the Black Mariah, if you look at the model it should not be possible to shoot at the passengers or for them to shoot back. It is a closed coach with no windows except the small one in the door.

On a seperate note, I find it a little bit alarming that we hear nothing about when the final rules should be in place or any news at all. There are still models that need rules, and others who's rules other blogs have pointed out could do with some re-evaluation.

214 views but not a single comment. Surely I'm not the only who has tried these rules?
