Diecast Models of Russian Civilian Vehicles
« on: May 03, 2014, 01:01:00 PM »
The new Poundland here in Beeston, Nottingham has a sales bin near the till full of vehicles with Russian Cyrillic writing, including fairly modern looking Moscow police cars, a Gaz ambulance from forties or fifties, bus, fire appliances, etc. I've just bought one if each and three police cars, totalling £14. Going for a 1980's Cold War Hot game where NATO forces have landed a force to take out the leadership in the Kremlin.

Ah you mean these? Yes, those are rather nice vehicles (I picked up a dozen for wrecks). Pity that my own Poundland went through its stock of them overnight. They're originally from a miniature's magazine over there I've been told. Its a pity that Poundland doesn't carry items of they're quality more often (I once found them selling 1/43rd Humvees and military Landrovers), rather than the cheap plastics they usually carry.

The cars would look great in an African setting.
Yes, I have been looking over the Spectre KS.

I think we came up with what the boxes say in my blog when I posted some of the diecasts.

The box of one has an importer's label on it:

4EVERYWARE STOCKLOTS
BV DE SONMAN 30
5066 GJ MOERGESTAL
HOLLAND

The issue being though that the rest of the text is in crylic so working out what the hell it says is a bit of a bother. I think it was discovered that they came from a Ukrainian magazine (the packaging would imply this), but I can't find the specific posts in that thread beyond the initial ones discussing the cars. Ah, so I could spend the time translating all the text on the boxes, but given that I neither understand the language, nor have a keyboard which supports it, it may be more effort than its worth (ah, though searching Ukrainian diecast magazines on Google, or something to that effect may be more efficient).

Yup those are from the same manufacturer. Missing a few of the ones I have, but there's plenty more there which I didn't know about as well. :)

Yes, this is the model from the Russian and Polish magazine series. I took a little on the sample, although it is not quite profile my store.
