had a game with my 5 year old
« on: May 04, 2014, 08:11:30 PM »
Last friday, the little one was off from school and i had a day off from work. My wife was away so perfect time for a game.

We used some of my terrain and my old mage knight figures! The boy surrendered when a dragon ate his last elves though  ;D

Superman was the first to succumb to my wrath, so not so super as it seems  ::)

my first thought was - You let Your 5 year old touch painted miniatures?!!!!
and then I read "mageknight"  and relaxed...
I usually get panic attacks when kids under 10  come closer than 1m to gaming tables at shows....

so, good luck with the nice start into wargaming world
prepainted soft plastic are certainly the best intro

I use specific stuff to game with my lad, pre painted plastics and pirates pocketmodels mostly. Cheap and pretty resistant. I wouldn't dare letting him touch my Painted stuff!  :o

He wasn't that pleased with the outcome, but it was a solid 3 hours of fun though! At least he learnt to respect dragons and their riders  lol
But in all fairness he managed to drop one of the dragons to their last click so he did well!

In the end getting him away from the telly and video games meant an overall win! Kids these days lack a nice dose of fantasy, especially my little bugger!

And here's a pic of the little dragon feasting on his elves  :D :D

Mage Knight!

Ah, a man after my own heart.  :D :D :D

Wonderful to see a game being played, and better still to see your son having such fun.  :)

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

I still think mage knight was a great game. Shame it ended up how it did.

Thanks!

Just keep it simple, ignore all modifiers at first, and just make it fun.

Better to have a simple game, than no game at all!
