Toy theater diorama views

Lateley I visited the german historical museum in  Berlin. Somewhere hidden in their exhibition there are some examples of  toy theaters made of paper and cardboard.

They were used to give an illusion of three-dimensional depth.

I really like those so i tried the principle for some photos with a miniature. Just for proof of concept, nothing fancy at all. Maybe I will go further into this in the future.

That's an interesting idea... reminds me of a book (more of an art thing?) by Edward Gorey; 'The Tunnel Calamity'.  It opens like a concertina and there's a lens in the cover that you look through to view a scene set in old Victorian style tunnels populated by all manner of odd folk, and a large beast.

There used to be military scripts for some of the Victorian toy theatres - "Battle of Waterloo" etc.

the concept of forced perspective is older then we think.
