big robot
« on: May 07, 2014, 07:36:16 PM »
Another lost project seeing the light of day again and hopefully getting finished.

This was originally a vinyl model from the first Judge Dredd movie. I have changed the pose as it was a bit too 'dynamic',  simplified the feet and changed the huuuuuuuuge shoulder pads using a football yo-yo from a Christmas cracker.

and last a picture with a 28mm fig for scale...

It has the right big and stompy feel to it so far, but i think it looks too open in the mid-section. Maybe needs more armour plating or something?

Suggestions welcome.

I agree some armour would make the robot look better. But I'd go for a parcial cover, as if it had sustained battle damage and the armour is starting to break and fall.

using a football yo-yo from a Christmas cracker.

That took me a second to process...

Very nice looking work on this one. I agree on the un armoured belly looking a bit strange. still covering it up entirely would be a waste of good detail right.

First off, I think it looks great,

but I recon it would be fine without armour, its obviously not a military-grade tactical robot, so it probably wasn't intended for combat, (no integrated weapons systems etc), so it makes sense to have a slight weak spot?

I agree, makes sense to have a weak spot if it started life as a home-brewed machine, or a construction robot or something. I do think it looks quite fantastic as it is.

In the movie it has at least the one if not both fists with quad automatics(fully) looked to be light mg's as big as mediums if using caseless ammo(sorry geeking), it was never positive if both fists were intended to be armed. as for Armour, there appear to be attachment points on the torso and to the loss of detail try using a magnetized plate for removal say if damaged in game to allow the foe an easier shot at the vital components.

that said i love the work as is ,budo.  :) :) :)
