A SOTR question...
« on: May 11, 2014, 03:21:58 AM »
So I'm considering SOTR for my Weird Wars needs...but wasn't there some talk about KS for Version 2.0 of the rules? Or I'm confused and that version is already available?

I'm asking because I don't want to invest in a ruleset that's going to be replaces after a short while  :-X

The SoTR v.2 Kickstarter has not taken place yet. West Wind  and Grind House are still working on the rules. Both companies are still working on fulfilling their last kickstarters. I believe the 2nd edition has been pushed back to later this year (no firm date).  :( West Wind has been working on the metals for the Incursion game. The pictures of the minis look great. The game is a lot of fun. I would recommend picking up the rules and trying it out. It is quite enjoyable to field historical vehicles against mecha and/or "what if" vehicles (there are rules that allow you to create and modify vehicles). The background is pretty cool. I love the universe that has been created for this game.

This info was posted on the West Wind forum on 17 April 2014 by the site administrator Ostmann. I hope he won't mind my re-posting it here. Figured it would be the best way to get the word out!  lol

I spoke to Andy today at Salute and he gave me the following update

1. The rules are done
2. The army lists are all done including the new US Pacific and Japanese
3. The SOTR is the next kickstarter
4. People who back will get access to new army lists to beta test and provide feedback
5. The W&E beta testing is currently happening on here and due to work to get this KS completed probably completed by end August the SOTR KS will start in September
Lots of new units such as armoured version of jet rangers, New marine pole type weapon to take out bunkers etc
6. Tesla is almost done and the drop troopers from incursion KS need making smaller and are being done and should be in the KS also

For any more info please contact Westwind for more info

Thanks
Al

Here are some photos of the new metal German Drop Troopers being produced for Incursion by West Wind. These models crossover to SoTR. I found the photos on the Grind House forum. Trooper 3 is armed with an anti-mech rifle, so appears to be for use in SoRT, as there are no current rules for that weapon in Incursion!  :D

Why wait? If the kickstarter isn't until Sep 2014, then the new rule book probably won't be out till 1Q next year at the earliest. You'll miss a whole year of gaming goodness!

But that gives me time to slowly buy some weird war stuff  ;)

Is it just me or are they looking a bit "Warzoney"?

Not sure on the Warzone. I have no minis to compare. These Drop Troopers do look faithful to the original SoTR sculpts, but it appears they addressed the "skinny arms" issue.   :)

Looks like it, the old arms were a bit skinny, I must say the sculpting has improved a hell of a lot from their earlier stuff too, looking forward to what comes out of this KS

This is the new Gretel sculpt. The other two I believe are the new bomberzombie sculpts.

From what I have read on the Grind House forum, the metal miniatures are ready to ship, and may be arriving soon to non-EU customers.  :D
