Dodge,

You'd be welcome anytime. Let us know when and we'll set up a game for you.

Incidentally, there are some nice colour shades for Russian armoured cars here:

Sorry Dodge, wasn't meaning to have a go at you. I was curious about the tank thing myself, that's all really.

There's nothing wrong with imaginary armies and invented conflicts with a near-real world setting, I do that kind of thing myself. While my Western Front Great War games are pretty historical, so far my WWI African adventures have all been made-up battles in fictional colonies. That way you don't have to play strictly by the book, and can add the odd thing that would make the game more fun. Like U-Boats. Almost any scenario can be improved by adding a U-Boat.

Such as the Battle of Naseby, for instance.  :)

Plynkes.

No worries, I didn't take any offence at all, I think that is the problem with the written word. I tried to make my reply as light as possible. It became rather long winded in th end.

All the comments were very helpful thats the beauty of this forum.

Made up battles is what I like which is why I fell into Back of beyond and Pulp because you can get away with it.

So don't worry, I only tend to take offence when people are truly mean to me.

 lol

Hate to be a prig Plynkes but it was Edgehill that featured a U Boat, not Naseby. It  was just after it surfaced that Charles I slunk off and hid in an elderberry bush.

Actually since we are on the subject of [paint schemes here's a site with some nice schemes for the Vickers Medium series, might provide some inspiration.

I found out about the vickers when he e-mailed me.

He said it was a good pulp tank and has it listed in high adventure on his website.

I put it together last night with the rolls royce a/c really straight forward very enjoyable.

Only problem was the front mud guards on the A/c didn't work as well as the picture but hey the impression is there.

But you ar eright about the medium mark b it would have been a better choice maybe. Although the vickers being a old hlbs kit was probably easier to release quickly.

Oops. Sorry, I deleted my post (Dodge hadn't replied to it when I did), as I didn't think it contributed anything to the discussion, took us off-topic at a tangent, and was slightly negative in tone, which I'm trying to cut down on. Sorry about that.

I was also musing about how much fun it would be to have a Medium Mark B in 28mm:

So lovably-useless looking!

(Thought I'd bring that bit back in, as Dodge had already replied to it.)

A good scratchbuilding project? It's basically a rhomboid shape after all. If a few concessions were made for the sake of simplicity the only real problems would be all those rivets and the tracks.

I don't want one that badly.  :)

If a manufacturer were to produce one, I would probably buy it. As it is a Great War tank that wasn't actually used in the Great War I have little or no purpose for owning one, I just love the way they look. RCW and the Irish situation hold no interest for me, gaming wise, so it is a bit of a scratch-building non-starter really.

Looking at these tanks I find it fascinating to see how they developed from very simple armoured shells through to turrets. You can certainly see in that mark b the move in thought processes to ww2 and beyond.

Maybe I'm being silly.

There was also the Medium Mark C:

And Mark D:

There's almost no end to the number of interesting tanks that there really isn't any point in making a wargaming model of, but that I'd quite like to have anyway.  :)

That's exactly what I mean you can see in these two shots some further experimenting on where the turret should go and what the tank should look like.

Excellent stuff love it.

You might also check out the "All Fronts Armor" website for resin tanks.  In the WWII section they have a number of useful WWI/BOB vehicles like the Rolls Royce armored car, some French, Russian. Italian and German Armored cars as well as FT-17 tanks.
