Space Pirate painting log.
« on: August 05, 2014, 12:41:57 AM »

Hey I'm building some Space Pirates for my Solar Empires setting.  Actually I'm building several small crews to combine into a larger force.  These guys are "The Scrap Dogs" a pirate crew from the Asteroid Belt.  This is the first squad I've finished but I've got another rifle squad and a hand to hand squad ready to paint up as well as a small mecha.  I'm also going to be building some Mad Max style transports for them out of some toy dump trucks and some light technical vehicles.

I've already got a pirate list made up for No Limits so hopefully these guys will get into battle soon.

Oh yes, I can see these fellahs slumming around your mushroom-box spaceport. They look very disreputable (in a totally excellent way of course). Maybe we should be talking about 'grimedark'?

Whoa, long time no chat, Ironworker!

Did you ever break your hiatus of Recruits? Only asking as I'm wondering if I might see these lads this September...  ;)

Working on a new pirate crew for my pirate army.  These guys are Ghost Legion "Dogs" (veteran pirate troopers).  They are converted from Reaper Bones IMEF troopers with various GW heads.

This is Matchbox toy I am converting to be their transport.  I know it is really big but it is designed to be a long range all terrain rover sealed for hostile environments.  I thought it looked a lot like the big transports from Prometheus.

Hopefully I'll have them painted up soon.

Seeing your game reports and painting logs always inspires me to go and DO something!

Nice job, as always - are the chaps in the first picture GW 40k chaos cultists?

Yes they are from those 5 figure boxed sets that came out after the last edition.  I swapped a lot of heads on them and used some green stuff to convert them.

As in 'whatever you need, you damn well better have it with you...'

Looks a bit silly, right now; even a simple paintjob will do wonders, and I don't expect 'simple'.  ;)

Ready to be 'wow'd' again.

Just thought I would post an update on my work in progress.  These guys are about 3/4 finished.

I'm working on this squad for the same force.

I got a little stumped on the big rover but I think I've figured out how to deal with the problem I was having.  Should be some progress on it soon.
