They are both such stunning scenes. How to choose? I think that both of these are some of the best painting I have ever seen on the LAF.

Bloody bleeding hell...  :o :o :o

Frank - you have surpassed yourself. What a scene!  :-*

I am expecting nothing less than a full scale battle of the Somme for round 10 - a match I am fully expecting to lose  8)

Alex, the Palmyrans are gorgeous.
(My wife once played Zenobia in a play of the same name :))

But I really don't think anyone can stand against Frank in this form. He's certainly pulled all the stops out this LPL. Brilliant.

Bloody hell, both Frank and The Prof are getting better, which I did not think would be possible. Now I've got to cast a vote, hell I can feel a migraine coming on.

Both very very good, and better than others. seems a shame to choose a winner, so one that would win against another entry must loose!

This is like trying to choose between DaVinci and Michelangelo. Two masters at the top of their form.

Good comparison! This is one of the most stunning comparisons I've ever seen. Both are simply epic in scale. Amazing job...and yes, it makes you wonder what these masters have planned for Round 10...!

Camels vs. Camels ;-) Brilliant entry Alex! I really don’t know much about the ancient history of Palmyra…shame on me!  Not least, because I have visited the remains of Palmyra some years ago.

The miniatures in my pictures are of course not painted in a single week! But I painted 12 camels and 12 figures within 5 days, which was really hard work. The miniatures are made by Castaway Arts, Perry Miniatures and Redoubt.

And thank you for your kind comments…but do not expected too much for round 10. I am afraid I do not have the time to paint everything I have actually planned.

Oh my, what shall I vote for. It is nearly impossible to make a fair decision. There is one thing that is shown clearly by the current LPL: There is a niche of top painters which can´t be filled by everyone, but you two certainly squeeze in there...

Wow, Frank.
That was one of the ten best miniature pictures I ever saw.
Prof. your picture is still excellent. In paiting aspects you are both first notch.
But I know all to well what a pain it is to built up a picture like that, find the right ankle to fotograph it, get it sharp ...
Since yesterday I watch it again and again. :o
Something I usually not do.
Prof. Thanks for doing this competition. Watching the new entries on sunday is always the highlight at the end of the week!!!

Feel sorry for the Prof, what an entry and to be running second
1 question - how do you keep all the figures in focus Frank?
