INEPTT Genre 2 - Island off Java
« on: May 18, 2014, 03:18:57 PM »
So the lads wanted to give a Genre 2 run a go as we had been working hard at the Genre 1 Mission Book. So I took them to an Island off of Java.

Special Operations passed on to their teams that there had been some strange lights moving about the Island for the better part of three months and the locals have noticed some strange things going on.

Special Operations Teams have been assigned (3 teams - 2 British and 1 Soviet) to get to the Island and extract all the residents (natives only if practicable), as well they should go to the Pyramid and the Sink Hole to find out what is going on at these two spots. They have been told that if they encounter anything "unmanageable" that they are to evacuate with extreme haste.

Here is a shot of the Island. You can see the docking facility and the warehouse/hotel/general store for the island near the top right of the land area. Barely visible behind the large mountain in the centre is a Fruit gathering hut for onward movement to the dock area. The research station and its group of 4 scientists are located beside the Pyramid. The water wheel building to the left is only used now by the scientists. To the right just out of camera is the Sink Hole.

The small native tribe that lives on the Island, not unfriendly but distrustful. Their weapons are all poisoned so any hit will result in death.

The Spec Ops teams arrive by tramp steamer. The Captain has hired a launch to take all residents and the Spec Ops teams too and from the Steamer. It can only carry 7 people at a time so it will be important to have a plan to evacuate the residents safely!

Special Ops barely get ashore when they encounter their first "Strange Occurrence!" A huge snake attacks the Soviet Team.

The snake was destroyed in a hail of bullets before it even managed to close with the Soviets, so the teams continue to push inland.

Out from the waters edge rushes a HUGE crocodile - something has obviously affected the creatures but what? Once again the three teams bring in a huge amount of firepower that kills the Croc before it can manage to kill any of the troops, it did cause a wound to one Brit but over all a lucky result for the Special Ops teams.

Close up of the shear size of the Croc!

Croc down, the Spec Ops break into two parties, the Brits head towards the Fruit gathering building, the Soviets towards the Natives.

As the Soviets close on the Natives a second giant snake attacks the Brits and kills one of the Operators but is then dispatched in a ferocious hail of Bullets!

The Soviets and the Brits both get under control the Fruit workers and the Natives - all start running towards the dock area.

Closing in on the research station the Brits ask about the fourth scientist and are told he is at the Water Wheel building, as the Brits start to move that direction the Soviets spot a Giant Ant! Can you see him? They open fire and OH BOY!

ANT SWARM!

Trying to evacuate was impossible for one British team and they were quickly overwhelmed by the mass of Giant Ants!

Frightening how quickly the Ants got everywhere!

Even breaking into the research station with ease!

Bit of a sense of the volume of Ants attacking the teams!

Rear guard action - holding of the tide of insects is the only chance the other teams have. Sadly the rear guard were all torn to pieces but they did allow the other teams to escape!

Final member of the rear guard goes down fighting!

Well Spec Ops (SOOF) managed to rescue all civilian inhabitants, the natives and made it to the research station. But they did not explore the Pyramid or the Sink Hole. A second expedition is being mounted even as we type this report!

Looks like a really fun game. Thanks for sharing.

I had the ants hidden away and you should have heard the grunts, whining and laughter as the horde of ants came racing out to see who was disturbing them :) They are going back in this weekend - so we will see if they learned any lessons :)
