Scale?

Armies at this stage tended to be a bit generic.

Wargames Factory do three plastic boxes.

Warfare Miniatures
Front Rank
Dixon, though more 25mm I think.

Northstar 1672 range might fit.

Front Rank. They actually have specific Austrian figures like Grenadiers. Front Rank virtually paint themselves as an added bonus.

Hi gents, thanks for your feedbacks  :) if you would take TAG ottomans for the other army, which of these manufactors from austian minis would you take? Front rank i guess will be too tall and big, isn't it?

Dixon or northstar?

I guess that Warfare Miniatures would be the best match for TAG Ottomans. Old Glory is always hit and miss quality-wise. Dixon, while lovely figures, are a bit small, Front Rank would be much bigger and heftier.

Yeah. If there not were these not really sculpted faces. I really don't understand why there are no good sculpted eyes, noses and mouth areas. If these were 15mm figs, ok. But for 28mm? The other parts of the bodies are full ok.  :-[ it's a pain in the arse for painters and collectors because the range is really useful for many armies for these time!

Northstar is my favorite range for this period, followed by Warfare Miniatures. Although I have seem some beautiful paint jobs on Front Rank I find their large hands and muskets unnatural.

For the period of the 1683 Seige of Vienna the Northstar uniforms might be somewhat more approriate [Infantry in the Northstar range don't have waistbelts. These were starting to be introduced in the 1680's]. One nice thing about the 1683 seige is availibity of Polish winged hussars in the Austrian order of battle.

Dixon miniatures feature in the early editions of 'Lily Banners' rules before the League of Augsburg guys went into producing 'Warfare Miniatures'. They appear to be slightly smaller than more modern ranges, a good match for Foundry Marlburians perhaps? You could probably mix them with most other manufacturers as 'normal human variety' if that worries you you could use some card shims to level up heights when basing them.

The key bit of kit for Austrian infantry is really the Grenadier bearskin. Other details I'm not sure about are belts, apostles, and whether they had matchlock or firelock muskets? The other distinctive troop type are the lobster helmeted cuirassiers.
