[HELP] Where find Pulp Jungle scenery and miniatures?
« on: May 29, 2014, 02:13:16 PM »
I've yet a board for wargaming, but never included some jungle trees, plants and other scenery for jungle.
I know many use some plastic plants for aquariums, what producers is better for some nice (and cheap) plants? I tried to do a surfing but these plants aren't so cheap and not always are fine for use in wargames. I could need suggestions for statues (from greek mithology to other cultures), temples (of all types) and maybe some greek buildings (in ruins and not). Other suggestions for accessories needed for a pulp jungle adventure will be welcome too ;)

I'm looking for some female tribal warriors and greek amazons too. I've yet saw something in the Wargames Foundry website, I was considering the Obelisk miniatures tribal amazons and giat apes, but seem that most (if not all) of their miniatures are unavailable (maybe they don't sell anymore?). There are other companies that have nice femal tribal warriors and greek amazons?

Thanks.

I'm afraid I can't help you so much about plastic aquarium plants and resin decor, because each country has different stores and markets. Maybe you can check evilbay for what you need.

As for miniatures, you may want to check:

Shadowforge http://www.shadowforge.com.au/

Wargames Factory: http://www.wargamesfactory.com/webstore/legacy-of-the-greeks

Dark Sword http://www.darkswordminiatures.com/

I'm sure other LAFers can give you more options.

Hope that helps.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

There is a very good French site that has a nice looking range of suitability scaled jungle plants. I'll see if I can find it but I'm sure the owner is on the LAF.

Cheap palmtrees and bamboo can be bought on ebay. Like 300 palm trees for £20.00 (+free shipping worldwide) if I recall correctly. Another great source for plastic plants are discount stores which often sell plastic plants cheaply in decoration balls, .... A nice source for female african warriors would be Copplestone Castings along with their other nice pulpy looking adventurers and bits. I hope this helped a bit as I have made lots of jungle for my own collection and for other wargamers.

Dad and I shop at a local Hobby Lobby and buy plastic plants bits. We pull them apart and hot glue them on washers to make washers to make a nice amount of greenery. :D

Thanks for the precious suggestions  :)
I tried to surf on the italian ebay and I yet found something that could be nice:
http://stores.ebay.it/ennepi-shop/Piante-ornamentali-/_i.html?rt=nc&_fsub=4207358018&_sid=210491018&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1513&_pgn=1
and some other accessories

maybe there are some cheap greek ruins for acquariums too somewhere...

I must try to give a look to a big hobby shop in my town, maybe they have something (they sell huge quantities of items for gardening and similar hobbies)
