To quote the Duke of Wellington: 'It has been a damned nice thing — the nearest run thing you ever saw in your life'.

I cannot think of anyone more deserving of the champion's mantle than Frank. If there's a more talented fellow when it comes to composing and shooting brilliant pictures of wargames miniatures, I've yet to meet him. Congratulations Frank!
It looks like the green beer is on me next time in Kiel, or Hamburg - or whereever! :)
(Or perhaps we'll just let James buy the beer, and we'll sit back and enjoy it ;))

Well done to everyone who took part, painters and voters, and congratulations to Tsar1701 too - thoroughly deserving of a podium finish :)

Alex, you have provided a lot of wargamers and modellers with a lot of happy sunday mornings for the last three months - and for your reward, you gave yourself all the most damnably tough match-ups you could find! Madman! Thank you.

Suppose I'd better put my name down now to run LPL9.

I was talking about getting a book up, perhaps next year....

You just have to watch out for Bugsda taking a dive in the tenth round!  lol

Things I learnt from the LPL:

1. Don't take photos on your phone, they will generally be shit.
2. Pay attention to detail in the composition, the punters like a good show.
3. Get as many bonus points as you can. I blew an easy 10 on not including a train I could have instead of working on a crashed zeppelin I barely started.
4. Don't get too stressed about the points (this may not necessarily be compatible with point 3).
5. Take advice from other painters.
6. Enter in to the spirit of the competition. It is a celebration of our community.
7. I paint REALLY slowly!

I would enter next based on this, but fear buy losing heavily every time I'd accidently skew the finishing positions....

Congrats to the top three, all worthy contestants. This year had some amazing entries and some seriously tough calls when choosing which entry to vote for.

Congrats to all participants, really. I enjoy seeing the clear improvement in painting and presentation over the years. Some of the people here are very clever and Sunday mornings of the LPL season are highly anticipated.

The sting of not making top three wore off long ago, I knew I wasn't going to be up there after Bugsda laid into me on Round 2 ;)

Congratulations tot he top 3 and to all the other contestants this year - this is probably my favourite competition of the year (even more so than the Eurovision song contest)

Was my first year entering and only started late - Had a great time and made a dent in the lead pile (even my wife approved - swoon)

Hope to be back next year and see if I can work out how to keep ahead (had a blip in getting rounds 8 & 9 ready and had to fall back on completing some virtually finished high elves as opposed to some Batman figures) and also how to compose the presentation and picture - practice practice practice

One tick on the bucket list of life complete

Can't wait till next time

Congratulations again to Frank, Blood and Tsar (what an introduction for my first round)

I'd forgotten about that :o So it was actually my own fault you didn't make the top three, glad I didn't have any money on it  lol

 lol

That would be pretty funny if you made a bet and sunk yourself ;)
If you had knocked out all new entries I think you'd have been in the top three- you did some stunning stuff this year!

Ladies and gentlemen, the Season 8 of The Lead Painters League is finally over. I would like to thank to all the participants, for their hard work, tenacity and motivation. Well done, all of you! It’s been a great season again; we’ve seen some very hard fights on a very high skill level. Though you know, skills alone are not enough. If you enter LPL, you enter a marathon and sometimes it’s very hard to push oneself to keep running. Being myself a participant I really know the feeling of endless weariness that overcomes you at some point..

Wait!!

What?

NO LPL pictures to greet me when I awake tomorrow morning??

Say it ain't so!!

Hang on, Today's Sunday??!!??
I knew it couldn't be, 'cause no LPL eye candy fer breakfast.

Well done everyone, splendid efforts all!!

Much to learn here, many ideas nicked, filed away for future reference, superb inspiration!!

One day my eyes will be so bad ALL my efforts will look like this, to me at least...

Thank you LPLers, you have given me more than you know.

Have I by any chance mentioned I hate, loathe, despise, abominate and abhor talent?

Possessing as I do none of mine own.

Valerik
