45mm minis for dino-hunting?
« on: June 17, 2014, 01:55:36 AM »
This is more for the dino-hunting crowd: Would you buy 45mm minis of a modern or pulp Lost World-type expedition?

"Wait, 45mm?!"  ???

Yep, 45mm best matches the 1/40 scale that most toy dinosaurs are sculpted in. So the minis would be very
"niche," but you would never have a problem finding prehistoric animals to hunt for.

Or is it better to just use 28mm figures, which fit in with all your other minis but are dwarfed by the larger-than-life dinos? (which is not a bad thing.)

99% of the minis that I own are 28's, so I would stick with that scale and just have large dinos.
I am trying to keep everything in the same scale these days so that things like scenery  can be used across genres.

Same here, re-using scenery is saving money!

I stick to a few scales though! 28mm for skirmish stuff and post apocalypse, 10 mm for world war 2 and ACW and 6mm for epic.

Needing new scenery for ww2 still comes out cheaper than having to buy 50-100 tanks in 28mm  lol

I have a couple dinosaurs from Schleich and Papo abd the 29mm miniatures that i have (genres fantasy and Vietnam) are dwarfed but i would not start with another scale. Then again i am not thinking 'bout starting a Dino hunting game or something. Although the whole idea is quite interesting. Time and money are the main reasons for sticking to 28mm.
