More Zulu British
« on: June 08, 2014, 11:39:00 PM »
Thought I would move the rest of my Zulu build out to Colonial Adventures.

Started painting more Empress command and historical figures to go with the Warlord units.

And most welcome they are too.  :)

More beautifully sculpted Empress figures - Natal Police and Native Horse.  One 8 figure unit mounted and one on foot of each. The horses will be a bit of a challenge. Plus a rocket team and another 7 pounder to finish my artillery. That should keep me busy through the summer.  ::)

They look great.

I am curious as to why most people I either talk to or see posting on the internet start with the Brits?
I have assembled over 100 plastic Zulus as I figure I,d get them out of the way first.
If I started with the Brits I,d get them done and they would sit in the display cabinet for years before I did the Zulus.

I have plenty of Black Tree Brits and a growing number of Empress figures to paint. One mate has some Brits and another intends getting some so we will have about equal forces on both sides. >:(

Sorry to hijack the thread but I have been wanting to ask someone?

Good question. In my case the AZW British miniatures I acquired off Trademe were already based. I was also somewhat daunted about painting the Zulu. Now I have got a unit of NNC out of the way I am much more confident in tackling them.

in my case, my friend has already painted the Zulu horde. I am adding different British units to increase the scenarios we can play.  We probably could use a few more Zulu units but that will have to wait.

Ok cheers guys I think I am actually more scared of painting all the red coats first lol as I hate painting red.
I think I will do a regiment of Zulus first then a few Brit characters in between and leave the rest of the Brit Regiments till last.
I had that Trademe sale on watch but could not work out packs the Zulus were. My mate wanted the Brits but it would have doubled the amount of Zulus I have to paint. I already have some Black Tree Zulus to paint.

Perhaps we should get together for a game once we get a bit more painted. I have just about done all the British that were in that sale - just finishing up the Lancers now. Then on to the Zulu.

Brian, perhaps we could do Zulu at Call to Arms next year?

Great looking figures.

Next time you photo them, you might want to go around to the other side of the table and have the light coming from behind your shoulders.  Makes for a slightly higher contrast.

Keep up the great work !!
