BoB and RCW paintings
« on: June 04, 2008, 12:05:49 PM »
Dear All.

I have found the following message in TMP (thanks to them)

http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=144284

The link of the picture "Storming the gates of Bokhara" leads to some website with lot of paintings with RCW and BoB interest.

Check the link:

It sounds promising!

That painting of Bokhara is an inspiration! I'd like to model some thing like that!

Truely marvellous stuff - well done you for uncovering!  Note on no.15 the British officers skulking at the back of the White execution squad, having done their dirty deed.  This picture is called 'The martyrdom of the Baku commissars', by Isaac Brodsky. Peter Hopkirks 'On Secret Service east of Constantinople' has a lot about this incident, which the Bolsheviks/Soviets used as evidence of a 'foreign plot' against Russia.  There were even monuments in and around Baku blaming 'British interventionists' for the 'murder' of the Commissars.  Wonderful!

I just love those old Soviet Realism paintings. We should commission our own paintings in that heroic style for the LAF.

"Defeat of the 500 Errors"
"Judging the LPL"
"Plynkes Files a Battle Report"
"At the Lead Adventure Meeting"
"Grimm and the Professor Build a Board"
"Death of the Never-Victorious Army"
"You Have New Personal Messages!"
"No, Comrade, You Have These Figures I No Longer Want"

That would be great. Until then:

Of course, Comrade Maik´s abode is far more accomodating, but it captures the cheerful atmosphere perfectly. Or we´ll have the artists count trees.

That's where TMP gets you when you post one of those 'I wonder if anyone knows...' sort of messages  ;)

I was trying to find the painting for use in the campaign I'm going to start in the Autumn at my club. We've been to Kashgar on a previous campaign so I thought it would be nice to end up somewhere else...then I remembered Bukhara and that reminded me of the painting.

Who knows maybe I will make a 28mm version of the gates of the Ark for the grand finale?  lol

Yes, I can understand that nobody here imagined our club and ourselves being THAT old, but that's the price you'll have to pay when continuously living in other worlds and times ...  lol  lol
