In the Emperor's Name-Heavy Weapons question
« on: June 11, 2014, 08:04:21 PM »
What constitutes a Heavy weapon that requires either Power Armor, suspensors or two crewmen to be allowed to Move and Fire?

In the weapon list there is a column entitled: Type, which calls out many of the weapons as Heavy. But I don't think these are all weapons that require assistance to move and fire, or fight in the case of the Chain Sword and Genestealer claws. What function does the "Type" category refer to?

Thanks,

Mike

Good question, I just downloaded the rules myself after reading Revnor.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Anyone, anyone?

I'd really like to know what the Type of a weapon is in reference to. I see it get used in the retinue list for equipment choices.

I have also come across the same question, its frustrating that the 3rd edition needs lots of tweaking! Spent the whole of club night this week re doing the weapons list with several players!!

Looking forward to an answer  :D

Although he's not really involved much with ITEN anymore you could try asking Craig on the In Her Majesty's Name child board.

It was Craig's suggestion that I put the question here.

We used to run a campaign of this at my club and the whole thing was dogged with how messy the rules are. It was a while ago, but I think that particular rule constitutes weapons like Heavy Bolters, Lascannons, Heavy Stubbers, etc, but we were fluid with our interpretation. So come up with a house rule based on common sense I suppose. If the gun's larger than an assault rifle and not carried by a space marine (in which case is it larger than a normal human...) treat it as heavy. Oh, and just general rules for the game that I remember: Squigs are bent as hell, so limit their use, and nobody is allowed to equip more than a quarter of their models with bionics unless its fluffy. Its easy to make an overpowered list, so its up to the players to reign themselves in (though I haven't played in about two years, so I don't know if that has changed).
