Perry Ikko Ikki and Forlorn Wako Comparison request
« on: June 13, 2014, 04:23:05 PM »
If anyone who owns both the perry Ikko Ikki and Forlorn Wako pirates could take a comparison shot of a few of the models together I would be very greatful. I plan on picking up some Perry Ikko Ikki further down the line as well as some to make a unarmoured/lightly armoured mob unit to use for Kings of war and I am considering mixing some Forlorn Wako into the unit to but not sure how they will look together, if not great I will probably stick to the perry alone.

If anyone could show me a comparison that would be great, even a comparison of the Wako with any perry infantry would be a big help.

Thanks
Carl

Damn, I have the Wako, but no Perry samurai at the moment. I have some Kingsford Ikko Ikki and they're much bigger than the Wako. You might be able to use them with Perry though. I could take a pic with another Perry figure, out of the Sudan range perhaps?

Sure I imagine the size will be similar even amongst different ranges of Perrys. Sadly kings ford is one of the few samurai ranges I don't have a single model of.

Also have old glory, wargames factory, northstar , steel fist and the assault group samurai if you have any of them to compare it too, of not Sudan is fine.

Thank you.

I have a few pics on my blog of comparisons of about 14 different makes of Samurai peasant/Asgigaru types, under the Samurai label. No Wargames Factory, Northstar or Steel Fist though. A mate has some of the Steel Fist and they are a tad taller and broader than Perry.
There are also some TAG monks and they are broader than Perry but I think they mix OK together.

Sorry I meant I already have the ones I listed. My wording wasn't very clear.

My comparison hasnt been as well planned as yours, no size lines like yours.

Models are from left to right

Kensei, Nortstar, Steel Fist, The Assault Group, Foundry, Old Glory, Perry, West Wind.

From left to right

EM4: Unarmoured Samurai > WGF: Ashigaru > Perry: Samurai > TAG: Monk > WGF: Ashigaru Kneeling > WGF: Ashigaru > Warrior Miniatures: Ashigaru

Some cracking painted Samurai on your blog btw.

They're pretty weedy looking little guys. Life must be rough on the high seas of the Orient.

My initial impression of them was that they were too small to use, but now that I have them next to some other stuff they look okay. Kingsford of course hulks over the rest of them :)

Tbh I am considering using them as part of a peasant mob anyway so the skinniness kinda works on their favour.

In terms of scale head and hands are what concerns me the most and they are scaled well enough with other stuff that they should work out fine. A mix of them some black hat and some perry should work out fine.

The Forlorn figures could do with a bit more in the poses, they seem a bit static considering they are representing desperate raiders  :?

The only thing missing are the Clan Wars figures. Not historical you say, but I think the Steel Fist figures are proving that the old concept of what constitutes a "Samurai" is not as fixed as it once was. The reality appears that Samurai armour was more variable than I realized!

Sadly I have no clan wars figures.

This blog does a nice job of mixing clan wars Samurai with other ranges wouldnt nessecarily call it historical but they look great which is what counts for the most part..

Clan War mixes decently with some groups.

While this doesn't quite have a direct scale, or really the best photography since I didn't have time when it was taken to do so, someone had wanted a pic with minis to show the useability of some stuff I'm working on.

Top Center is Bombshell's Tetsu-Ko, Bottom Center is the Kensei Kuge Clan Heroine, the two on either side of the top are Crab Huruma Archers that Valiant has out now, the two on the sides lower down are the Lion clan lioness'

That's my current Ronin Buntai, still haven't had time to paint them as of yet, working more on terrain for the table.
