[...]you're saying that the force on the trigger should be enough to load the whole crossbow... but that requires a very strong trigger! The reason why that movement requires two hands is that it's hard to do, since you've to load a really stiff bow.

Essentially, yes, although you could use a squeeze-trigger instead of a finger trigger too.

In a full-size model, the draw would be too strong for the trigger, but in a scale model/pistol version like yours...? I think it's doable.  8)

It is definitely doable, yes, but it wouldn't be a scale model anymore! ;)
anyway, i'll think about that, that's tempting... :)

I think that "rule of cool" trumps everything else, and I'm sure we'd all forgive you if it was no longer a true scale replica! ;)

I've made a video of the working mechanism!

Of course, when i am more concentrated on the crossbow i can shoot faster.

Ahahah, maybe! Now i've to find a rod of elastic steel to build a larger scale one. Barbecue sticks could be a good option, no? :)

You could combine a number of steel rulers and make a miniature leaf spring!!! :D that should increase the distance ;)
