28mm AVGN Grizzly/Husky ???
« on: June 16, 2014, 02:37:12 PM »
Hi Folks

I'm trying to find a 28mm AVGN (Armoured Vehicle General Purpose) in ever Grizzly or Husky Variants, for my Uruguayan peacekeepers but can't find anything. I'm aware that there are 28mm LAV-25/STRYKER ICV that could be converted, but was just wanting to make sure that I had not missed anything.

Don't believe any such thing exists in 28mm market. Closest is the LAV. Most 28mm vehicles are pretty 'mainstream'.

That would be useful for Canada as well. Cougar.

Hobby Armor Depot has both the Cougar 6x6, and Grizzly 6x6 in their modern military line. I have a couple of their models. Inexpensive, and designed for table top gaming. The quality can be a little rough, but they do carry items that no one else have. Check out the HEMTT gun truck!

I didn't have any issues. Once I made contact, I was able to place the order no problem. I paid through pay-pal, so at least I knew if something went wrong I could get a refund.

Leaving aside the long standing reputation for customer fraud/ horrific customer service here's also the issue of many of their models being recasts, some fairly obvious, some less so.

Most of the HAD stuff is recast.  Either toys or kits.  I was involved with helping Quarter-Kit Gas.oline look into the models HAD had taken from them and slightly reworked to recast and sell.  Nothing the French Govt can do, and the guy keeps moving and changing numbers.  Not worth going after him really.

On some of the models, he's not even covering the seams to make them look like originals (some of the the moderns are recasts of some transformer toys.)

The stuff is cheap though.  Which is the major draw I suppose.

I'll stay clear then. Any idea where the Cougar 6x6, and Grizzly 6x6 are from??

they look like converted models from the de agostini 1/43 series.  They do make a nice LAV in 1/43.   But you can probably get one of the resin models from Empress to convert.
