Not Quite Pirates
« on: July 27, 2008, 07:44:36 AM »
I warned Rudi that upcoming posts would not be logical, or sensible.  Here's some more.
A while back the local club had a go at ZPR (Zany Pirate Rules, or LotHS)  I was encouraged to 'Paint something useful from the period' and here's what I came up with.

1.) So I tried for a Pirate captain in blue, and came up with a Prussian infantry officer.

2.) So then I tried for a captian in red, and ended up with something that looked like the Duke of Cumberland from that 1960's BBC documentary on the Battle of Culodden

3.) And finally, I tried to paint up one of the villanous town guard from the Burt Lancaster movie 'The Crimson Pirate' and ended up with a French officer.

Perhaps more to come later.  Should I post piratical additions here, or on a new post.  Still very new to all this.

Nice figures. Are they from Foundry's SYW range?

Interesting concept.

Great paint!

Adding a bit more dash to the period, eh?

They are in fact from the Foundry SYW range.  At least I think so.  I bought them years ago as individual figures, back when they were 'Guernsey Foundry.'  Before they were merged with Wargames Foundry.  The early figures were, I think, designed as opposition to the Foundry Cossacks. So they were mostly second string Prussian types, Friekorps, etc.  Now I believe that the SYW line really is a full line of SYW figures.

Oh, here's a photo of some musketeers, which aren't really pirates either.
