Hi Gents,

These are the latest Calpe Prussians to add to my army.
3 Battalions of the 15th reserve regiment.

Very nice.

To the right on the images in Photobucket you've got a URL next to "IMG". Click on it and paste into a post you get:

if I may ask how do you like Calpe's figures?
I am thinking of picking some up, and do they go well with Perrys?
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Hi Gray Ghost,

Peter does an amazing job of sculpting these figures. You won't find missing straps under arms or buttons missing, etc. They are fun to paint but also take more time because they are accurate.
He differentiates between Musketeers and Fusileers unlike the Perry's.

Fusileers have curved sabres/falchions, and no badge on the ammunition pouch.
Musketeers have a straight sabre/falchion and a metal badge on the ammo pouch.

Compatibility of Calpe and Perry. Perry are a little smaller and thinner, but if you were to keep them in separate units they should be fine.
I would mix Essex and Old Glory with Calpe, no problem.

Cheers,
Thomas

I love his figures and have never regretted a single purchase, but I wish he would try to be a little user-friendlier.

Nice!

I always enjoy looking at some painted Calpe figures.  I've been wanting to pick up some of those in "trail arms" but I'm worried about how well they will hold up.

You cannot go wrong with Calpe figures!

I've got hundreds and although ordering can be interesting Peter's service always delivers good results in the end.

Only bad news is that I think that he's on holiday for the month of August!

I shall post some piccies of mine once I master all this 21st century technology.

Cheers,

Paul

Lovely figures mate. FWIW I also love Calpe figures, you can't beat the sheer authenticity which is the result of Peter F's painstaking research. Its true that they are closer to 30mm than 28mm, but I am happy to mix them with Perry and Front Rank (actually they are about the same as Front Rank), but in different units...

I'm surprised at the comment that Peter is difficult to work with, he is a perfect gentleman, but is very much a one-man band so does take his own sweet time...but its worth the wait!

So these are Calpe Uhlans brigaded with a mate's Perry metal Hussars:

Outstanding looking collection of Prussians, makes my brush (modest as it is) want to work on some.

Thanks for your comments gents.

Sparker, nice collection! Those are Big battalions/regiments!!

Iowa Grognard, the trail arms figures are pretty good. the muskets do bend but will bend back no problem.
I've received figures from Peter, with the bayonets bent right over, bend them back they are fine. Not sure what mix of metal Peter uses, but it is resilient.

Peter is a one man show and it takes time for your order, well worth the wait though.
My opinion is they are the best Napoleonic figures out there.

Our Ligny, Waterloo project has me painting at least 36 figures a month for the next 9 months!

Your painting is very nice. I am currently painting Calpe Landwehr and absolutely enjoy it. I really recommend Calpe miniatures if you are into Prussian and French napoleonics. Way better then the Warlord plastic miniatures I peinted before :'(
I ordered at Calpe and had a very nice contact and good support.
