victrix greeks question
« on: June 28, 2014, 06:54:24 PM »
hi, just wondering if anyone has made or painted any of these sets as they look really nice and i am thinking of venturing into ancients, what concerns me is
the quality of their plastic and if the spears/ weapons break easily?

thanks in advance

Here's the only one I've done...
I will eventually get round to doing some more.
I have to say I rather like them, although the poses are all a bit on the staid side. Not a huge amount you can do with them other than create standing / gently advancing poses.
The spears, weapons and figures generally are all pretty robust though. Provided you dont chuck them around too much, I think they'll wear pretty well...

:)

Hello Brian

About the plastic quality and strenght if you have some Gripping Beast plastics, the greek sets from victrix behave in the same form if this helps.
If you are planing on doing a small force you may consider to change plastic spears for metal ones.
But weapons are as strong as the ones from GB.

Cheers

Hi I have painted quite a few of these guys for some WAB games I am planning.
A lot of detail, even the spears are of different designs. With the 2 new light infantry sets available there is a lot more to do for me.

They're painted with Army Painter for a quicker result ;-)

For now I have only pics of my Spartans.

cheers Thomas

P.S. The glueing is a bit fiddly, but the number of different poses you can do is awsome, not 2 a like.
These days it's Wargods and Warhammer Armies Project I am working on !

I like their spears but you'll really have to be careful handling with them. Unfortunately some of them went broken in my hands.

Sure, it could be up to my hands, I know :)

They mix well with Wargames Factory greeks but not with Immortal Miniatures/Warlord Games'.

That said, I use all of these in my army and as long as you don't mix manufacturers in units it's just fine.
You, sir, are not allowed to attempt a takeover of the solar system until your octopus sobers up.

Also, WGF Nubians make excellent base figures for peltasts.  I ended up using a mixture of heads from the Nubians and the WGF Amazons on mine.
