28mm Colonial Marines Aliens
« on: July 02, 2014, 07:53:54 PM »
Some pics of my 28mm Colonial Marines made mostly from Mad Robot Miniatures' Colonial Defense Force.  I'm currently waiting on PRODO'S AVP Aliens/Predators/and Marines to ship, and I wanted to get a head start on my USCM Squads. The sculpting and detail on the figures is outstanding and the attention to detail of the Colonial Marines shows in the way the creator accentuated the helmets with mics, the bare arms, the groin, shoulder and shin armor, and the smartgunner's kit. These are multipart resin figures that allow you to choose your poses. I did add some thin plasticard in between the torso and legs and add some putty to their necks to make them taller, but they still look good if you don't. And the pulse rifles required some minor surgery; the flamethrower's, major surgery to get that movie look.  I scratch built the Sentry Turret from the old Leading Edge turret and some plastic parts. The Aliens and Predators are HeroClix and the APC is from Galoob which I had when I was a kid.

Excellent, but the question must be asked, Vasquez?

A friend did up some old Future Wars figs as the marines for my participation games. Let us just say his vision of Vasquez was equipped with more than just a smartgun. Needs a large base not to fall forward.    ;)

I was using a 1/48 Bradley as an APC for the exit objective. Another friend took pity on the other players, and tarted up an old Grendel kit to fit the bill.

Plans for doing up Hadley's Hope?

Thank you. In regard to The Beast's question, I am planning on doing a Vasquez, Hicks, Hudson and Ripley. Probably when the Prodos AVP Marines come out so they'll look completely authentic. I've already got some skull and crossbone decals for Hudson's Death or Glory graffiti. I'm gonna make Ripley out of Apocalypse Survivors: Women and give her a pulse rifle attached to a flamethrower.  I haven't figured out yet how I'm gonna do Vasquez's Head. Anyone know who makes a short haired, female head with a bandanna?
