So Sad!!! but there's a silver lining!
« on: July 27, 2014, 09:45:28 PM »
Well imagine my "horror" at finally getting back to the LAF forum after not really checking it out for several months and finding I'd just missed the end of the Colonial Challenge!!! My favorite period!!! yes work, family, stuff you would not believe, and a minor alien invasion in my area, no really just work, family, the depressing fact I missed the LPL by hours!, and the death of my beloved "Tank" my Golden Retriever who spent hours at the foot of my painting table and was always walking through our game days to get as many "pats on the head" as he could!

Tank and my daughter at one of our last times on the sand.... Huntington Beach (California Dog Surf Contest)

So trying to find the positive side to this it did find me looking to spend some meditative time at the paint table and I even found time to work on a "huge" painting commission I undertook, I never (well hardly ever) do painting commissions but I did accept a long term (years?) commission to paint the "Old Glory 15mm Rourke's Drift" set along with about 400 "extra" figures......I sold the set to a friend and he hooked me as part of the deal to paint it. I know a lot of people are interested in this set from time to time and many have questions on it, so you can see a write up on this on my website www.HistoricalHobbies.com or just check the post here (website more complete and more pic's)

The "Store" building from the set. The small offset room would have been where the missionary preacher was locked up in the movie.

Rourke's Drift needs Zulu's, lots of them! I'm building them (500) in blocks of 24 figure units (shield color/married/un-married) this is a recent block of 24 from a "married" unit.  lol

Sorry to read about your loss of Tank. I'm sure he had a happy and loving life as part of your family and also taking part in the miniature hobby.

500 15mm Zulus. Just pure madness I say  o_o Looks like you are on the right track though... I would never have the patience to finish such a task.
