VSF map naming: Help needed
« on: July 06, 2014, 07:33:00 PM »
For a gaming map, I need to come up with a substantial number of names for seas, towns, and so on. I'd like to keep a quasi-moon feeling, with Mare Something and Mons Whatever. Vaguely Victorian SciFi. Queen X Thingy or King Y Landmark would work well, too.

I'd love to avoid browsing Latin dictionaries for hours, or taxing my brain too much (it might implode) - there's probably a resource, or a random name generator, for just this thing already out there.

Any ideas? And thanks for your time!

(and if this needs to be moved, please feel free to so)
understanding is a three-edged sword

Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

Not bad, thanks - I'll probably steal from there. However, I was mostly looking for something fictional. You know how it is, whenever you steal a real world name, a player notices :)

Why not try the English name translated into German or French?
Or a combination of the two?

Good ideas! Thanks! I'll definitely show the finished version when, well, when it's finished.
