Svennn paints a samurai for a change
« on: July 07, 2014, 09:27:50 PM »
Steel Fist mini and very nice it is too.  I based it loosely on pics of Ii Naomasa because of the helmet and then discovered it is a sculpt of his son - note to self, do research first and properly  ::).

I have put a coat of Klear on the armour to represent the lacquer, not as full on as a gloss varnish but still enough to bugger the camera up

I third that! :) Really cool paintjob.

And a great miniature in general. I am slightly regretting getting Perry for Ronin. The Steel Fist minis look spectacular.

Well done, I think accuracy should come second to what's fun anyway, may I ask did you know he is wearing a mask or did you like the open faced look?

cheers all, it is disappointing how poor he looks in these pics compared to in hand but ce la vie

may I ask did you know he is wearing a mask or did you like the open faced look?

lol No.  The ref. pic I used had a chin guard only and as there was not clear definition of one on the model I did what I did  ;D

Yes your right Naomasa did not have a mask on his most famous armours, in fact the one I made for the kickstarter had a chin guard too.
 will you be painting more?

Was Naomasa the guy who wore a monkey mask?

Nice painting mate.
