Thank you all for the wonderful comments.  They mean a lot coming from the talented people of LAF.  Robert, to your point about the swap meet I am especially lucky to have the swap meet I have near by.  It has been a wonderful source of material for my collections and that is especially true of the temple complex in this gallery.  Thanks again to all of you for taking the time to write and for the very generous comments.  I have a big smile on my face.  Richard

While WIP photos of my temple complex and pyramids were posted on the Workbench, my wife suggested that some viewers of this gallery have probably not seen the WIP pics and so it would be good to post some of them here.  As my wife is wiser than I, I have posted some of those pictures below.

It was your WIP pics that got me motivated.

And Yes, our Missus's are always wiser than we.

wow, what an impressive dedication and workload! I think I can join in the chorus of "I always wanted to do such a project" too. But lack the perseverence....

a few months ago I had the luck to see some scaled accurate models
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=63571.0

and as You can see, You really hit the nail with Your gaming board.

please allow me a few remarks that are not meant to nitpick, but to improve Your project (if it can be improved at all):
I am not sure how You will want to game the scenery, but the aquarium pieces of the collonade at medinet habu temple might cram the interior a bit (nonetheless the inspiration is clearly visible).
Have You thought of adding the procession road to the entrance, flanked by many guardian statues? You could add a few to the interior first court, or some obelisks, in place of the collonade. Also, the pyramid could use the typical funerary temple in front of it. I would think about either using the collonade aquarium pieces for this or the small temple from the inner court, which im turn You could then replace with aquarium collonades instead. Then You could have two different impressive complexes You can arrange for every given game and table size, with enough space inbetween to loosen up the whole ensemble.

And finally, please forgive me this remark, I know it is a matter of taste, but I personally think that the goofy sphinx head not only conceals and crams the main entrance, but also spoils the whole impression and Your wonderful effort.

You could use it as the front of a cliff temple, like in Abu Simbel, and flank the table with it...

Anyway, I am looking forward to see this astonishing project completed

What everyone else has said.
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous. I had thought that I had enough Egyptian stuff to start asimilar project, I obviously do not. You gathered about a thousand scarab beetles, I have six. You get Pyramids at swap meets, I get broken pens with Egptian tops at car booter sales, and so on & so on.
The Egyptians must have had a god of jealousy (green eyed perhaps) If not I must make one up for my (puny by comparrison) efforts.
Many many thanks for the inspiration you are giving us.

Amalric, David, former user and has.been thank you for taking the time to write and for expressing your enjoyment of my efforts with the Egyptian dig.  I tend to view posting such as the Egyptian dig on several levels.  Of course, I post my pics in the hope that you will like what I have done and say so -- for my vanity.  But I also post as payback for all the great ideas I have received from others that post (Hammer's Tintin mummy adventurers; Amalric's posting of fish-tank decor and Michael Immig's Dr. Kentucky Drown's car).  I hope that in some small fashion my gallery will help current project such as Amalric's and Eric the Shed's and others with their work.  And to that end, former user's suggestions offer another layer of ideas that can be incorporated in more projects.  LAF is such a rich site of wonderful talents and crazy minds that I can't imagine trying to do what I do without it.  Richard

I don't think anyone has ever put it better, or more succinctly Richard!

I thank you for your inspirational efforts.

You make me glad I chose to abandon ancient Ægyptian terrain, early on, otherwise has.been is spot on!

Your work does prod me vigorously toward progress on harbour, island & volcano projects, each currently in some state approaching moribund unfinished unfinished hell, unstarted dormant deferred derailed  delayed!!
Yeah, yeah, that's it, momentarily dee-laid!
