Well, it could, because grandaddy Warhammer FB was/is a skirmish game that piled up minis into units. :P One of the things that put me off it, and WAB.

I did hear about WaC and CoE when they were released, but wanted to get as far away from Warhammer as I could. I can't be having with individual casualty removal in a battle game, anymore...

Well, there is no arguing taste, of course. One guy hates casualty removal, the other one hates counters...

BTW I tend to define skirmish as games in a 1:1 ratio (one figure, one man) where the smallest playing currency is a figure which accounts for me not seeing WAC as a skirmish game. If the smallest playing currency is a unit, like in WAB/WAC where single figures usually have no significance, it's not a skirmish game in my book.

I always just saw it as a large skirmish game and ignored its pretensions. Having a unit of 20 archer figures representing 20 real archers made a lot more sense. Even in skirmishes people group together.

I do agree though that pretending you're re-fighting a major battle, rather than some insignificant scuffle, does not really work when a model representing 50+ men gets a saving throw.  ::)

I suggest "Impetus" if your not already playing it. :D

Seconded 8)

For the uninitiated, there's a downloadable Basic Impetus version if you want to try it out on the Dadi & Piombo site:

True and that's a very nice bonus, however I highly recommend the full version which IMHO gives a better game, but their are others who do prefer the basic version.
