Perry HYW plastic update
« on: July 15, 2014, 08:43:50 PM »
Fresh off the email:

Quote
I've just finished the Men at Arms for the English Army boxed set of Agincourt to Orleans set. The archers have been on our site a little longer and have now just gone into tooling.
The period, 1415-1429, as with the metal range, covers the first real full plate armour. It's a great look, being mostly rounded and 'globular'. Although I've described these as English they could be used as French too. The only differences being the English tending to fight in 'white' uncovered armour a little more more than the French. With armour styles I've tried to cover the main types used during these 14 years. Things changed quite fast especially with the basinets at this time. More plates were being added to the basic basinet with aventail until the aventail disappeared all together and you had the full great basinet. The houndskull visors also became globular during this period.
Shields for Men at Arms had more or less been dropped from use in the field as the armour became more complete, so there'll only be one on the sprue. All the visors will be separate as will the 'orle' or decorated circlet which was typically English. Two of the bodies have jupons and the other four are in 'white' armour. I've designed these so the arms from the Wars of the Roses sets should be interchangeable, the shoulders are the same width at least. So with some of the 'white' armoured bodies (i.e. the ones in the great basinets) you should be able to bridge the 1430-50s gap with the WotR arms.

There's no release date on these yet.

All the best
Alan

Looking forward to these.

Those visors remind me of the old Britain's Swoppet figures.....

The sculpting is all quite literally beyond belief!!  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I cannot wait!!!!

Great to see that some of the Wars of the Roses arms will be able to be used to create men at arms from about the 1430's-50's. Think of the armour of the mounted Dike of York figure from the Wars of the Roses range and you're getting the right idea.

Darrell.

Oh lordy.

Can't wait to see what they do with the French! This set seems to have been sculpted faster than any I can remember over the last couple of years- at this rate these might be available by xmas. It'll be interesting to see how fast they can pump out sets, now that they have no obligations at GW...

I think the pace they release plastic sets has more to do with Renedra's schedule than there own but we can dream!
