The Miniatures Page and membership to post?
« on: July 23, 2014, 06:39:20 AM »
So, has it come to pass?  Do you now have to be a supporting member to post on TMP?  Or are they just in a recruitment drive period?  And, if they are permanently on the supporting members only post situation, is the site doomed for future activity?

Seems a relatively small number of posters were actually supporting members.  I guess I'm going to count this as a 'brave new experiment' and watch how it goes.

There is an upside.  If I can't post there is much less reason to visit and thus I can actually get more done on my miniatures.  But there is still LAF!

Oh, am I too cheap to be a supporting member?  No.  But I still have significant reservations about the site because of its lack of moderators and some of the immaturity that prevails there.  Though it has been getting noticeably better recently.  Maybe this is a very needed step, perhaps on many levels.  Or maybe it is a form of slow suicide.

Curious to watch and see...

wait, maybe I am just too cheap.... :o     lol

So, I went back to hunt around a little bit more and apparently this is a temporary measure based on what was termed "drive by posting" which leads me to a primary suspect - Tango01!  Looks like he's been making dozens of posts per day.  Would be a pity if it's been reduced to the point where just one person can have such an impact.  Of course, there might be more than one guilty party.  Again, wait and see time.

No, It wasn't Tango. Frothers aimed some rather heavy-handed practical joking at Bill, who hasn't any sense of humor, which apparently is a volatile mixture. Bill does get odder and odder over time. His interview with editor Claire is beyond bizarre.

I like TMP, but not enough to pay for it. Indeed its lack of moderation and its Kangaroo court justice system sees to that.

You'd think with all his 'editors' they would be able to sort out those drive by posts...

Used to browse TMP daily, but that site REALLY needs an overhaul to make it more user friendly. And the daily "maintenance" breaks are annoying too...

Yes, a sad state of affairs...

"... 22 July 2014
Forums Change

Due to the number of "drive by" postings we've received lately, as a temporary measure, only Supporting Members will be allowed to participate on certain of our forums..."

Depending on what parts of the forum this addresses this could range from 'useless gesture' to 'childish vengeance' to 'pleasant respite' for members- have not been there in a long time, hopefully I will not 'fall off the wagon' and be enticed back after dropping by to check this out...

Gracias,

Glenn

Guys, I really would love not to have bashing-other-forums threads on LAF. Thanks. Locked.
