Pictures of Old Glory's WWII French Infantry?
« on: July 21, 2014, 08:15:39 AM »
Hi folks,

I understand that someone on here once posted some pictures of the Old Glory 28mm, but I can't seem to find them (though I did find a couple of posts referring to them as the only images available  ::) ). It's specifically regular infantry that I'm after (and also there are apparently some motorcycle scouts in lighter kit? i.e no greatcoats?)

Does anyone know where those pictures are and if the figures are roughly comparable to Artizan?

Thanks!

I think You will find they are closer to Crusader or Warlord. Artizan are chunky, especially the heads

alpine infantry :

mechanized troops

Dans les situations critiques, quand on parle avec un calibre bien en pogne, personne ne conteste plus. Y'a des statistiques là-dessus.

Urrrgh, rats. I had thought they were quite a bit larger than Warlord.

Are there any alternatives that would be a better fit for Artizan's truncated range?

Also, you can buy most Battle Honors from "War Web" that is where I went, the price was $11 or $12 a pack, not sure if they ship overseas or cost...but may be worth checking.

very specialized uniform I'm afraid, works only with chasseurs alpins

but the battle honours ones look actually not bad at all.
are the officers with SMG and kepi conversions? Crusader miniatures I guess?

Thanks for the pics, folks.

Right. I need a few regular infantrymen for pre-war home guard type stuff. Artizan's French WWII range does not include any "regular army" elements. Greatcoated infantry would probably be okay if getting figures in lighter kit is way too much of a hassle.

I need them to roughly match Copplestone/Artizan. Warlord Bolt Action is significantly smaller (and it's very noticeable in terms of guns, kit, etc.).

I thought Old Glory might do the trick. Styx's photos show that OG's French infantry are indeed bigger than Warlord, though it's hard to tell how they might match up with Artizan/Copplestone. The pictures seem to indicate a lot of the OG figures are in crouching or running poses so it's a little hard to tell! lol

To tell the truth, it's possible I might just be able to use some WWI figures painted khaki. The old kit would work for local call-up soldiers. The main issue there is scale again.

You can use almost any WW1 stuff, since the reserve army was issued old stock, up to the horizon blue uniforms. the only problem are the lebel rifles in great numbers, but you can shorten them to carbine easily. the only nono are the forage cap and kepi for other ranks, the latter being reserved for the legion. Scarab or GWM should be OK, as well as Woodbine

Right, well it'll be Adrians I want anyway.

Scarab is a decent choice. Brigade Games is on the larger side too, I believe?

too be honest, I would like to know. They are from different sculptors I believe, and some of them look very Mike Owen. I have only some sailors, and these are not very large, but the submarine crews are

Why not trying crusader miniatures ?
i've got the 25mm gun, very nice minis, they fit nice with artizan / coppleston ! and the range is complete with heavy weapons , VB, 24/29 etc .....
