Do-it-yourself spaceships
« on: July 21, 2014, 02:47:47 PM »
With the inspiration of my friend Doug, I put together a few spaceships from bits laying around on my work bench.

I turned this pile of scrap....

Into this.

Here is the whole fleet.

You can see more pictures on my blog.  http://gamingandshooting.blogspot.com/2014/07/scratch-built-spaceships.html

Let me know what you think I can do better next time.

Nice spaceships!

I think the smaller ones would also work very well as flying retro-robots with 28mm miniatures!

@Turbo Ben:  That is a great idea.  I never thought of using is for a 28mm game, but now that you say that, it looks appropriate.  I might have to build another so I can base it appropriately.

Thanks.

I have started a new fleet.  Very different look and I'm not 100% sure I like the outcome, but cheap and easy to come by.

You can see a few more pictures on my blog.  http://gamingandshooting.blogspot.com/2014/07/more-scratch-built-spaceships.html

These were made with spare Ork arms I had in the corner.

What do you think?  I need ideas for some larger ships?  Maybe I could use Kill kan or trukk bits?

Nice work. I like the ship made from the axes more than the one with the sword-wings though. The swords make it look a bit oike a flying fish (but that may be the look you were going for!)  :)

I like the ax blade one better as well.  I wonder if I turned the sword blades so the long side was to the hull, if that would help.  Might have to give that a try.

Love the use of the goggly eye things as domes, very clever.

Very creative!  I like the idea of making some as retro scifi robots.   :)

Really cool result. As said before, it would also make nice 28mm scifi .drones or domestic robots !

I made a space mat a few months ago, and bought a game (star navy), I still have no spaceships to play with. This is inspiring !
