Thanks everyone! Really glad you like the big cuddly guy!
@Jagganath will you paint up the teddy bears? They're fun. I'm wondering if it might be a way to have some war gaming fun with my kids.

Yeah - I quite like red vs blue type wargaming, it’s a break from all the narrative heavy stuff I do, so they seemed liked a nice opportunity for that kind of fun. I’ve printed two skirmish forces worth, just need to crack on!

A slightly less cuddly alien this time, gifted to me by fellow blogger Carmine over at Indelible Inc.

What makes this extra special is that it's a conversion from the hands of master sculptor Bob Olley - one of several he was selling on ebay a few weeks back. I painted it up referencing the colouration of a white uakari monkey, but it's given him a really unsettling baboon appearance!

Hope you like the latest addition to my collection of weird alien beasties. More words and pics over at my blog.

Wow, things you can do with the WOTC prepaints. Excellent.

Thanks both!

@twrchtrwyth - this is the first I've experienced, but I'll definitely look into what other figures might have potential.

  • I've only had a few ales...
I love that big guy, he reminds me of Trapper Haag from the old Judge Dredd comics.

After a little hiatus to do some fantasy stuff, I fancied painting up something fun, and something sci-fi. And what's more fun than a large, cuddly, centauroid alien?

The figure is Uuti, the Gomo Heavy from Gydran Miniatures, and it's a fabulously characterful figure and fun to paint.

Another excellent addition Axiom, looks like she pities the fool who underestimates a quatrefoil beaked space sloth.

You really nailed that glowing effect on the gun, as usual.

Another alien today, but right at the other end of the spectrum to the cuddly Gomo from last time. This new alien is a leech-like horror, most likely to be encountered on a remote mining station, or in the corridors of an exploratory ship!

The figure is a fan sculpt measuring around 45mm tall:
