One hundred years ago today, the July Crisis culminated with the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia, plunging the world into the conflict that would become known as The Great War, or First World War. To commemorate that momentous occasion, we present:



The Great War Painting Club





So once more it's time to get your painting helmets on and help us with a big push to get to one hundred figures.  Will it take us four bitter years, or as Captain Blood put it, will it all be over by Christmas?

I'm sure I don't need to go over the rules of these things again, but then again I better had, as nobody pays any attention to them anyway:


* It's all about us as a community painting miniatures from the board's setting, which is of course the Great War, in all its many and varied theatres.
* You may only post one entry a day. That's just so everyone can get a chance to join, and the slower painters don't get squeezed out by the more industrious among us.
* Once entered, you don’t have to post every day. It’s perfectly acceptable to post just one single miniature in order to take part in the game and to become a member of the club.
* This is not about showing your collection of already painted stuff, so please do post only newly-painted miniatures. We’re not in a hurry, so take your time.
* As usual, the standard entry is a single based figure. However we can extend that slightly to include mounts and riders, and singly-based vignette items such as a machine gun and crew, an artillery piece or a vehicle. That sort of thing. But no full unit displays, please.
* All scales are welcome, and for the smaller ones (18mm and under) it is perfectly fine to submit a stand with several figures as the default entry, as that is roughly equivalent to a single 28mm figure in terms of effort. You may still submit single figures if you choose, however.
* When we reach 100 entries then the guns shall fall silent once more and the club will be complete.

Well I can't take any credit for the idea...



I was afraid of making him too ragged for fear of overdoing it and spoiling the figure, but now I think I didn't make him nearly tatty enough!
