Dreamlands Film
« on: June 24, 2014, 07:06:07 AM »
6-minute teaser for 'The Dreamlands', currently seeking funding via IndieGoGo: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-dreamlands-h-p-lovecrafts-dream-cycle

This is the same team that put together Die Farbe, an absolutely amazing adaptation of The Colour Out of Space which I highly recommend.  It's not without some flaws, but what they managed to achieve on a shoestring budget is remarkable, and the tone - in my mind the most important element of a Lovecraft adaptation - is pitch perfect, so I'm very excited to see this new project.  Now I just have to decide if I want that shiny deluxe edition...

Die Farbe was VERY well done, and looked great - but I couldnt get past the fact they replaced the cosmic horror aspect with christian satanic elements. This seems a lot more promising and nails the otherworldly feel.. I might support it!

I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do here.
But this project MUST be funded! We really need a good Lovecraft movie. It's been far too long since the last one. And there aren't many made.
I'm in for the special edition blu-ray. I really hope they find enough backers. And I also wish they would have gone with more investors. If they had, the movie would probably have been funded already.

Seems they secured another investor - the film is technically funded and will now go ahead.  Huzzah!  However (and I hope I'm interpreting this correctly), because they opted for fixed funding on IndieGoGo, and aren't permitted to change the goal amount mid-campaign, they do still need to have the campaign succeed in order to secure those funds.  The film will still be made regardless, but the better the campaign does, the easier it will be for them to get the remaining financing.

The IndieGoGo campaign has funded with 70 hours to spare!  Not that the money was absolutely required, but a bigger budget should hopefully result in an even better film.  Plus I actually get my swag now  :D
