Painted Scaly Monsters
« on: July 30, 2014, 05:42:37 PM »
Hi all,

I've been busy on other projects for a while but am done writing and can do some painting now. I decided to try out the Reaper Bones minis and bought a few scaly guys, the Pathfinder Red Dragon, Snakeman Warrior and Tiik Warrior. I have to say they the bendiness is not something I am used to for miniatures, and I still much prefer metal and resin. The price is very good though, and for gaming figures to sell on ebay, it is really helpful to be able to not worry about spending too much on "raw materials".

Anyhow, here are some pics of the three. I went for speed for the most part, priming in white and applying light base coats, then washes of inks. Highlights were mainly edge-highlights, allowing the washes and glazes to do the blending work. I probably should have done the zenith prime thing for the dragon, but a pure while primer coat made the color more vibrant.

These look fantastic!  I love the colors and vibrancy  :)

They're all very nice, but the scheme on the dragon takes the cake for sure!

Consider that well and truly filed for future reference...  :)

Excellent! And the fact you call it 'speed painting' just makes it worse. :D

This. My "normal" painting looks like a$$ compared to this...

:o Hot damn that is amazing! And to think you got such good results out of Bones figures. It boggles my mind.
