1mm thick quality repair washers in UK?
« on: July 28, 2014, 03:12:20 PM »
Sorry, I'm sure there's oodles of threads asking this but my search-fu isn't turning up an obvious answer.  I have been getting some nice 1mm thick  25mm washers in B&Q, and some nice thin 50mm washers in my local hardware.  None seems to do 15,20, 30, and 40 locally.  I ordered a load from an ebay vendor but they are all abou 1,5mm thick and are frankly pitted with corrosion and half of them are not magnetic.  Can anyone confirm a source in the UK of quality zinc covered repair penny washers and preferably a nice 1mm thick across all sizes?  the 1,5mm type all seems to have a casting line around the middle which i don't like!! I'm anally retentive and NEED these to be corrosion resistant, and preferably with a decent outer edge, and 1mm would be best if possible.

This looks like good quality but does anyone know how thick they are and if they are indeed decent quality?

Again, apologies for the Newb question  :)

Try Wickes. I'm not totally sure, because my spares are stuck in the loft, but I think their washers are 1m thick and I have bought various sizes (20-50mm) in the past. They also do nice, big bags of them, rather than the tiny bags B&Q sell. I think Wilkinsons also sell washers that might be the right thickness, but only in the smaller sizes.

These were recommended in a previous thread. I haven't tried them out myself so I don't know how thick or magnetic they are.
