1. The disc rider mini is one of my favorites, you did a good job on him when you painted him 10yrs ago.

2.This smaller version of the Lord of Change is my fav version of him.

3. The cannon is just the best, love the chains holding it in place.

4. The Warshrine, is sweet, really like the chaos sorcerers and the chaos spawn, all painted really well. The metal of the shrine and the red demon face really pop.

Love all those old minis

Thanks for the kind words!

At the end of march the army will participate in a tournament, everything will be finished by then, meaning I can nicely start on this years LPL by then :)
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

My Fantasy armies (update 14/07/2011)
« Reply #32 on: July 14, 2011, 09:08:01 AM »
It's been a while, with the LPL in between and a few more things going on, but I did paint a few more miniatures for my army.

I added an Army Battle Standard of Tzeentch on Disc with Halberd and shield.

Next to that there is a Shaggoth. Don't know if he'll ever be used, but painting him was fun. Still need to make a shield for him and paint the wood part though...

.

Next to that, there are some Beastmen, which really needed some work. While I would have loved to paint up my Tomn Kings, I disliked that there were already 3 people playing that army, so I went back to these guys.

I spend a few hours and the following units, just to get them done for a game.

A small unit of Minotaurs:

They are accompanied by a Doombull in arnour with a helmet (often ramhorn) and a set of two hand weapons.:

And lucky me had an old Leviathan chariot lying around (which you can still buy for only 8 GBP from Grendel)  which was pressed into service as a pumbaarazorgor chariot. Ik really like this model. The guy in the back is just standing on a 25 mm square base and can be removed if neccesary.

Since we have a small Blood Bowl tournament coming up, I also worked a bit on finishing my skaven team.

Starting off with the obligatory Linerats:

However without Gutter Runners the teams has a hard time scoring:

Some Blitzers make sure the centre doesn;t crumble like swiss cheese and give me the oppertunity to at least sometimes knock down opponents. A thrower is good support for picking up and throwing or handing off the ball to my gutter runners.

Off course you can't leave home without a Rat Ogre ;)

Last up, the most important manrat, the coach. He has his big book of tactics with him to help him decide on how to get the most out of his players. Still have a few days to finish the globes he is carrying and his base

And off course I needed a referee, It's a version of Big Boris from Heresey miniatures:

What a nice lot of stuff there, Brax. What paints were used for the minotaur skin? I really like the tone.

Good question!
I started off with P3 Bloodstone, which looks a bit like the olg GW vermin fur, though it is just a bit darker and then went on highliting towards Dwarf Flesh (GW). I obviously need a bit of matt varnish, since most of myhighlites dissapear in the pictures.

Nice conversion work on the Disk rider! Chariot is pretty cool as well. Is the Ref. a conversion too? Great job.

Thanks for the kind words  :)

The ref comes with a number of different options, I didn't have to do anything special to get this nice pose.

Great job, I love the chaos troops. I think the ref 'explaining' the rules to that player is very well done and quite humorous as well.

Fantasy armies (update 25/07/2014 - Chimera, chariot, trolls)
« Reply #39 on: July 25, 2014, 09:24:17 AM »
Digging up my own topic, always lots of fun :P

Here is an update from my chaos army:
It's been a while since I posted due to RL interfering. did get around to painting a few models, though most of them are at the almost finished stage needing only the basing done and some varnish, so taking pictures didn't happen. Still I have a few left overs that I can post, just to get back into the habit :)

I finished these almost a year ago, before our son got born.

First a Gorebeast chariot in which I replaced one of the crew for Goldar:

Then there was a quick paint Chimera, which took around two hours to get ready for tournament useage:

Lastly a small block of trolls. I tried to give them the same paint scheme as the trolls I painted 20 years ago and failed miserably. As such I'm not to happy with the blue, but have enough other models to paint that I'm not going to redo them. Except maybe adding some dirt, mud etc, to make them less clean:

Some very very cool stuff in this thread.  Love the referee, and I love your paintwork on the Shaggoth fella (always HATED that miniature though, lol).  Great work all around.
