Battle for the Amulet - Pulp Alley AAR
« on: August 01, 2014, 08:14:25 PM »
Josh and I played Pulp Alley with Captain Wolf and Minerva the other day. The scenario was a tweaked version of the Manhunt in Perilous Island.

Captain Wolf, having crashed his plane, looks up to see a monkey running away with the sacred Lion Talisman. He radios his crew to come and help him retrieve the important amulet. Minerva, in pursuit of Wolf, sees his plane crash and rushes to the scene with her bodyguard and native allies.

Captain Wolf instructs his crew to break up into two groups in order to find the monkey. He nears a cave and peers inside, looking for the rogue chimp.

Minerva spots something glittering in the lake and instructs her bodyguard to search ahead.

(Turn 2) Graves searches through the trees and bushes for the ape but is distracted. Minerva runs up to help him search the area.

The chief of the natives makes his way up a cliff in search of the monkey.

Captain Wolf explores farther into the cave, finding a swarm of bats along with a relic which he quickly stuffs into his inner coat pocket, hurriedly making his way back out of the cave.

Bosun spots a group of Minerva’s native allies and shoots at them both in a flurry of bullets. One goes down with a bullet to the shoulder and Yao rushes the other, taking him down as well.

Minerva searches the area and finds an encrypted letter, but no chimp.

Captain Wolf decides to take a shortcut to the plane, leaping from the cliff side. He is injured but gets where he wants to be.

The downed native leaps up and takes down Yao in revenge for his fallen brother. Bosun retreats to cover before shooting at the ally, all of her bullets missing their mark.

Minerva gets into cover before firing at Chen, Graves having knocked down Hwang. Minerva misses and Chen is unharmed.

Bosun manages to take down the ally native after it charges her.

Wolf rummages through the remains of his plane and retrieves his journal, but finds no ape.

Bosun rummages around the area for the chimp but instead finds a snake that bites her ankle, taking her down, before slithering away. The native stands up and starts to look around for the monkey.

Minerva fires on Captain Wolf but misses every shot.

Hwang stands back up and tries to keep Graves occupied while Wolf searches for the chimp.

Hwang goes down again with a couple blows from Graves but successfully kept him away from Wolf.

The chief, from his high vantage point, spies the monkey walking along the beach. He cries out to Minerva and points in the direction. She rushes over to the location of the chimp.

Bosun makes her way towards the beach where everyone is gathering at a showdown point.

Captain Wolf engages Minerva as Chen, Hwang, and Max surround Graves. Chen and Hwang fire at Graves before Max charges. Graves breaks away and engages Captain Wolf and Minerva breaks away to try for the Monkey but is interrupted by Bosun, Chen, and Hwang’s relentless fire, Max charging in to engage. Minerva runs off from the combat, leaving Graves to keep Captain Wolf occupied while she battles Bosun for the chimp.

Captain Wolf barrel rolls out of the combat and snags the amulet from the monkey before running off with his crew to return the talisman to the tribe.

We had a lot of fun playing this Pulp Alley scenario. The scenario was actually extended several extra turn in attempts to catch the fleet footed chimp.

Do a barrel roll!

 lol Sorry, couldn't resist.

Great AAR. Everything ending in a giant climatic brawl is the way Pulp stories were meant to end!

I think this scenario was a re-skinned "Soerabaja Manhunt" -- out of the Pulp Alley - Perilous Island Campaign.

By the end of turn 6 they hadn't caught the monkey, but they were having so much fun they wouldn't stop playing.  lol lol lol

That sneaky monkey kept them running around in circles for 9 turns.  :o

HAVE FUN
