I'll be honest here - I find the mechs rather "blah" (the sculpts, that is - I hope they were cheap at least!).

However, those tanks and infantry...  So good! :-*

They are.  $40 for the starter box game gets you 26 plastic mechs (ranging from about 20mm-45mm in height/size).  They won't win any prizes but it's far better than the obnoxious $10 per figure from Iron Wind.

To be honest mechwarior stuff is kind of stuck in a bad place as it is sculpt wise. They are stuck with some pretty old designs that were often "inspired" by anime of the time. to the point they traced the art and then added a lot of pointless panels all over the place. But the game was popular and those were the minies that went with it. So now they either stick with those designs that are "classic" but to a lot of people not that good. Or you update them to look better but chances are more then a few people won't like the change either. Kind of a rock and a hard place. And not re-designing naturally is the cheapest options so why not go with that.

Back to the miniatures at hand, those scopedogs are the best rendition of that sculpt I have seen to date! The beetles I can appreciate the classic colour scheme of tough I'm not entirely convinced it translates that well to models, but those dogs tough, awesome.  :o

cheers Gents  :)

The Plastic Battlemechs are in the first Place a cheap solution,as Elbows pointed out buying all the Battlemechs from the Starterset in Metal would cost me around 240$  :o though the Plastics aren't all that bad but yeah Catalyst Games pretty much went with the classic Look which has always been a bit whacky, just have a Look at the Aerospace Artworks or the Ships and you'll see what i mean  lol lol

However there are some better Sculpts in the Metal Range, hopefully i can please the BT Haters with these:  ;) lol

Plastic vs Metal

Plan B simply is to show more Tanks  8) here they are, behold the Bavarian Brigade  :D

and finally here's one for the Beast  ;)

regards
Daniel

I'm torn because I hate all the post-3025 stuff...but the 3025 stuff is rarely done justice --- and all of the good designs were unseen and disappeared.  Dr. you considering any of the Robotech Tactics stuff which is coming out?  I'll have a bunch and will get some scale pictures for you when I get a chance.  A nice and cheap way to get some beautiful Unseen mechs back in the game.  :)

Quite agree with this statement.

Gracias,

Glenn

Oddly, I find Mechs as a design even "funnier" than non-GRAV/non-Tracked/non-Wheeled ground vehicles aka "blowers"  or GEV for combat AFVs (trapped in the early 21st century reality I guess.)  My hang up...

Your Mechs are very well done, BTW.

Personaly I really like these classic mechs. They are very original, and full of personality. I would not be interested by japanime style robots.

i like the Concept of Mecha in the Sense of walking (heavy) Weapon Carrier that's why i have a soft Spot for Big Stompy Walkers with huge Guns i guess  lol lol
