Adventures in the Rad Wastes and Cursed Earth
« on: August 08, 2014, 03:33:28 PM »

A while back I made a load of buildings for a sci fi shanty town, but had no surface for them.

I'd started working on something ages ago, but never got round to painting it.

I got a couple of spare hours at work today, and decided to get it done.  :D

LA should have a "Like" Button for work like this!

Cheers lads  :D

Making it was pretty simple really.

1. Nail cheap plywood board to leftover bits of wood for strength and support.
2. Glue foam board/blocks onto plywood sheets to look like ruins.
3. Swirl modeling plaster around the surfaces in groovy patterns and directions.

That's basically how I made it.

Painting was a little bit if a pain.

1. Look for black acrylic paint in my office, and find none.
2. Pop down to the local 100¥ shop and buy loads of calligraphy ink instead.
3. Apply a liberal mix of water, pva, and black ink to everything.
4. Frantically clean up after, and spend 30 minutes wiping up ink.
5. Dry brush with crimson, red, orange, light orange, yellow, pale yellow.

I still have a few things I'd like to add.

1. Water tower
2. Watchtower
3. Chain link fence for the scrapyard

I've got two games coming up soon, one JD and one 40K. They'll be in a couple of weeks so I'll be sure to snap some pics then for you all.

Cheers for all the kind comments.

Thanks for the explanation!

However, with some closer looks that would be even easier to understand the process! Just some pics of the finished peices! ^_^
