I really like these. They're more Bloodaxe than the over the top style that became standard after 'Ere We Go. The German tank is great.

Nice paints, but losing the minis in the basing and base each tbh. More of a contrast might be an idea?

Yes, the trouser and boots look almost too similar to the base. Apart from this, good job! I usually prefer a more chaotic look on my orcs but I like the way you uniformed them.
"I'd like to send this letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 autogyro?"
"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...

Thanks for the comments :).

On the next five I'm painting, I'm doing the bandaged feet closer to white and the boots more of a brown leather colour. If that solves the contrast issue I may come back and repaint these ones. Trial and error! :D

I really like these, the power armoured ork in particular.  I think that repainting the orks would be a shame. I dont think that there is anything wrong with the colour of the armour or fatigues (the opposite in fact) but making the bases darker would help to make the models distinct.  Maybe a more dark chocolate brown for the bases perhaps?

The purple goggles are fantastic :)  I like the grey detailing too.  I prefer that look to using metallics, although I tend to use metallics in those situations myself because its rapid to apply.

Anyway, thats a cool force :)

Thanks for saying so, Cheetor. Evebn as I typed that earlier response, I actually knew I would never really repaint them (too much other stuff in the leadpile to come back to minis that are already finished!!)! I am happy with them even if the next lot do look better.

As for the bases I want them bright in the early 90s style so I may try a more yellow brown and see how that looks.

Thanks again :)

Exactly as Paul said. I never suggested repainting the minis just the bases bud.

Good luck with the next batch.

No, that was me! :) just because I am actually painting the next batch slightly differently (being, subconsciously, aware of the contrast issue already).

Thanks again for the comments; very helpful.

Hopefully I can post more up soon.

I can only say those are luvly in all their Orkiness :-*. I concur, just a little more contrast would make them perfect, but anyway, great work there :).

Thanks!

I have been experimenting on the next batch with differing base colours but no luck so far. Having said that, I am pretty pleased with how they are currently. I will definitely seek further input on the next lot though; they should be done in a few days plus a few days for varnishing &c.

The varnish is just drying on these ones now. I made the bandages on the feet more white, and the boots more leather brown, and I am happy with how that is terms of the contrast issues; please let me know your thoughts!

These photos are  a bit rubbish (too dark), sorry! I won’t get a chance to take any more for another week or so, so they’ll have to do for now.

I found the two orks with the swords, the leftmost one in particular, to be a bit of a chore to paint. The whole group suffered a bit as a result. They are rubbish and next time I would just leave them. I love the rest of the figures though. Painting the autocannon was particularly enjoyable; the flames on the barrel are so retro it hurts (I think I really got the 2nd edition 40K vibe with that one!). Let me know what you think.

The Blood Axe logo turned out a bit wonky (the perils of drunkpainting!) but I don’t like the model enough to bother re-doing it; it looks pretty good at any time it’s not blown up to this size in general though...

So much character in these old sculpts; totally missing from the current plastics in my opinion.

I hope you like them. :)

I just bought a lot (43) of the old RT Orks and these were the inspiration!
