That's a beautiful board - fast too! What did it take, less than a week? Looking forward to seeing the Artizan models - the first couple look wonderful. Maybe it will give me some motivation to get my Artizan U.S. Airborne painted!

Lovely work mate  :-* :-*

I really like the wadi  8)

cheers

James

Thanks James! I had to look up what a 'wadi' was! ::)

I found an old board I was planning to use as a river/bridge style winter board that I was half way through. I decided to cut it up and paint it a different colour to suit this. Recycling and all that!  ;)

Very nicely done Andy. Looking forward to some games reports for ideas (I have minuscule Perry plastics to assemble!)  8) 8) 8)

Thanks Steve!

I had a least one plan for a game. That's why I've made the 3 fuel dumps. I figure they can be objective markers.

Is it THAT obvious!  ;)

I'm afraid you will need to finish your Perrys! I don't think it'd be a far game against your pirates! ;)

Thanks Hawkeye!

For inspiration for US airborne can I recommend this thread. Theres some of the best painted WWII minis in there (in my opinion).....

Any way, the first of the two Universal Carriers is completed. Its a Tamiya 1:48 scale kit. Against the Perry stuff its too big, but against the Artizan minis I think it looks pretty spot on. My only problem is my Humber now looks way too small! :'(  Ah well....I suppose it is only a gaming piece!!

Artizan on the left, Perry on the right....

Against the Humber.....

BTW signs are hand painted. The kit never came with Desert Rat decals. I might use the serial number ones though. .... :?

I really like that board - can you recall what paints etc you used for it?

And did you settle on a Humbrol spray colour for the 8th Army guys?

I'm now dreading my own project - 70-80 odd of the Perry plastic chaps for Burma...  :-/

Cheers DB!

Paints used were all cheapo ones. Either Dulux testers or paints out of the pound stores....

Base coat of Cookie Dough. Water down the Raw Umber with plenty of liquid and wash the boards. Drybrush with Parchment until happy. When drybrushing, keep it patchy in places. I think ot looks better if its uneven. It seems to add a bit of interest.

Thanks Capt. I've actually found proper Desert Rat decals in the set now! :(

Thanks again chaps!
